Privacy Policy for RC Signal

Effective date: April 13, 2026

RC Signal (“the App”) is provided by Thomas Pentzek / ReComp (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

We respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information RC Signal does and does not collect, how the App works, and how we handle user communications.

  • memory usage
  • CPU load
  • disk usage
  • available storage space
  • the name of the highest CPU-consuming process, when applicable
  • your app preferences and settings, such as alert thresholds and notification behavior

This information is processed locally on your device and is used only to display the App’s monitoring features and settings.

b. Information you provide voluntarily

If you contact us through the App or by email, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • your message content
  • optional diagnostic or settings information that you choose to include in your support request

We use this information only to respond to your inquiry, provide support, or improve the App.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

RC Signal does not intentionally collect or store:

  • personal accounts or login credentials
  • browsing history
  • file contents
  • photos, contacts, calendars, or messages
  • precise location data
  • advertising identifiers
  • analytics profiles for targeted advertising

RC Signal is not designed to sell personal data or share personal information with advertisers.

4. Subscriptions and Purchases

RC Signal may offer premium features through auto-renewable subscriptions processed by Apple.

When you purchase, restore, or manage a subscription, those transactions are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive your full payment information, credit card details, or billing credentials.

We may receive limited subscription status information from Apple that allows the App to determine whether premium access is active.

Please note that Apple’s handling of payment and subscription data is governed by Apple’s own privacy policies and terms.

5. How Your Data Is Used

We use information only for the following purposes:

  • to provide the App’s monitoring and alert features
  • to save your preferences locally on your device
  • to verify premium access status
  • to respond to support requests and feedback
  • to troubleshoot technical issues when you voluntarily contact us

We do not use your information for behavioral advertising.

6. Data Storage

Most information used by RC Signal is stored locally on your device.

If you contact us by email or support form, the information you send may be stored in our email system so we can respond to you and keep track of support conversations.

We do not maintain a user account database for RC Signal’s core functionality.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We may share information only in the following limited situations:

  • with Apple, where necessary for App Store subscriptions and purchase verification
  • with service providers that help us operate basic communications, such as email
  • if required by law, legal process, or valid government request
  • to protect our rights, safety, or the security of the App

8. Data Retention

Information processed locally by the App remains on your device unless you remove the App or change your settings.

If you contact us, we may retain your email and support correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain support history, improve the App, or comply with legal obligations.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information we receive. However, no system can guarantee absolute security.

Because RC Signal mainly operates locally on your device, the amount of personal data transmitted to us is limited.

10. Children’s Privacy

RC Signal is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can address the issue.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding personal information, including the right to request access, correction, or deletion of information you have provided to us.

If you would like to make such a request, please contact us using the email address below.

About FileSizeBuddy

FileSizeBuddy is a macOS utility designed to help users quickly find large files, analyze disk usage, and free up storage space safely. Instead of manually searching through folders, the app scans selected drives or directories and highlights files and folders that consume the most storage.

The goal of FileSizeBuddy is simple:

Make it easy to understand where your disk space is being used and help you clean it up safely.

Main Features

Fast Disk Scanning

FileSizeBuddy scans your selected drive or folder and analyzes the size of all contained files and directories.

The scan process:

  • Traverses the entire folder structure
  • Calculates file sizes
  • Identifies the largest files and folders
  • Builds a clear overview of disk usage

This allows you to quickly identify storage-heavy items such as:

  • Large video files
  • Disk images
  • Backups
  • Old downloads
  • Archive files
  • Temporary files

Largest Files Overview

After a scan, FileSizeBuddy presents a list of the largest files found on the selected drive or folder.

This feature helps you immediately identify the biggest storage consumers. Files are displayed with:

  • File name
  • File size
  • File location

This makes it easy to review and decide whether a file should be removed.

Disk Usage Visualization

FileSizeBuddy includes graphical views that help you understand disk usage visually.

Tree Map

The Tree Map displays files and folders as blocks.

  • Larger blocks represent larger files
  • Nested blocks represent folder structures
  • Large storage consumers become instantly visible

This is one of the fastest ways to discover hidden space usage deep inside folders.

Pie Chart

The pie chart provides a quick overview of storage distribution.

It allows users to see:

  • Which folders consume the most space
  • How storage is divided between large categories

These visualizations make it much easier to understand your disk usage than traditional folder browsing.

Safe File Removal

FileSizeBuddy does not permanently delete files.

Instead, files selected for removal are moved to the macOS Trash. This provides an additional safety layer because files can be restored if they were deleted accidentally.

However, users should still review files carefully before removing them.

Cache Cleaning

Applications and system processes often create temporary files known as cache files.

Over time these files can consume significant disk space. FileSizeBuddy helps identify common cache locations and allows users to clean them when appropriate.

Cleaning cache files can sometimes free several gigabytes of storage.

macOS Security and Permissions

macOS uses strict privacy protection for file access.

For this reason, FileSizeBuddy may ask for permission to access certain folders. This is normal and required by macOS security policies.

Examples of protected folders include:

  • Documents
  • Desktop
  • Downloads
  • External drives
  • System folders

Users must grant permission in order for the app to scan these locations.

Security-Scoped Access

FileSizeBuddy uses Apple’s recommended security-scoped access system.

This means:

  • The app only accesses folders you explicitly select
  • Your data remains private
  • Access permissions follow macOS security rules

Important Safety Notice

FileSizeBuddy is designed to help locate large files and free disk space.

However:

  • The application cannot determine whether a file is important to the user or another program.
  • Deleting certain files may affect installed applications or stored data.

For this reason:

Always review files carefully before deleting them.

FileSizeBuddy moves files to the Trash instead of deleting them permanently, but users remain responsible for verifying the files they remove.

Why Some Files Cannot Be Deleted

In some cases, FileSizeBuddy may display a message indicating that a file cannot be deleted.

This can happen for several reasons:

File Owned by Another User

Some files belong to another macOS user account and cannot be removed by the current user.

System Protection

macOS protects certain system files and folders to prevent accidental damage to the operating system.

Insufficient Permissions

The app may not have the required permissions to modify a specific folder.

In these cases, the application will not attempt forced deletion.

Troubleshooting

The App Cannot Access a Folder

If FileSizeBuddy cannot scan a folder:

  1. Make sure you granted permission when prompted.
  2. Check System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  3. Verify the app has access to the selected location.

Some Files Are Missing From the Scan

Certain protected system files may not appear in the scan results due to macOS security restrictions.

This behavior is normal.

A File Could Not Be Deleted

If a deletion fails, the most common reasons are:

  • File owned by another user
  • File currently in use by an application
  • macOS system protection

Try closing applications that may be using the file.

2) Servicio local, confiable y directo

Sin intermediarios raros. Sin promesas grandilocuentes. Con comunicación clara.

3) Apoyo real a educación y comunidad
